Technology Description
IPL is a technology used by aestheticians and doctors to perform a variety of skin treatments for both cosmetic and therapeutic purposes.
The technology emits intense broad-spectrum pulses of visible and near-infrared light, typically ranging from 400 to 1200 nm. Various cut-off filters are used to selectively filter out shorter wavelengths of light, especially potentially damaging ultraviolet light and longer wavelength infrared light. The light produced has a specific spectral range that acts on specific structures and chromophores (such as melanin in hair or oxyhemoglobin in blood vessels), which are destroyed by heating and reabsorbed by the body.
IPL uses a broad spectrum of light and can be used to treat a wide range of conditions when used with interchangeable filters. This is achieved by the IPL technician simply selecting filters that match specific chromophores.

Key Applications

IPL stands out for its effectiveness in treating a range of skin concerns, including:
• Pigmentation:
IPL can effectively reduce the visibility of dark spots, age spots, and sun damage.
• Vascular Lesions:
Intense Pulsed Light targets broken blood vessels and spider veins, reducing their appearance for clearer skin.
• Acne Treatment:
Intense Pulsed Light focuses on acne-causing bacteria, helping to reduce breakouts and improve overall skin clarity.
• Hair Removal:
IPL removes unwanted hair by targeting melanin in hair follicles, providing a long-lasting solution.

FAQ
Q: How long does it take to remove hair?
A: Only active follicles are affected by the treatment, but not all follicles are "active" at all times. "Inactive" follicles can become "active" over time and thus be treated. Therefore, an average of 8-10 treatments are required, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to remove the majority of visible hair.
Q: What should I pay attention to after the treatment?
A: Generally, most patients can return to normal activities and makeup immediately after treatment. There may be slight redness in the treated area, but this usually disappears after a few hours. Patients are advised to apply sunscreen to the treated area before leaving the clinic to protect the treated area from the sun. It is normal for areas of pigmentation to darken in color, and it takes 5 to 7 days for these areas to return to their normal skin color.
